Biggs Army Airfield was established in 1925, although Fort Bliss aviation assets date back to 1916. During his 19 years at Fort Bliss, Airfield Manager Randall J. Stewart said he has seen about $600 million invested in airfield upgrades and improvements, including: five new hangars, two new helipads, two new taxiways, a new aircraft parking ramp, a control tower, and now, a renovated runway.
