Groundbreaking ceremony for seawall repairs at Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District holds a ceremonial groundbreaking event and media site tour by the Col. Ward Pump Station, Buffalo, NY, August 25, 2020. Pictured are Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation representatives as they do a ceremonial water tossing.

“The Lake Erie seawall and the neighborhood pedestrian bridge are critical infrastructure projects identified during the Imagine LaSalle community engagement process and important additions to the future park development. We’re excited to see progress on the seawall repairs, the first of many aligned projects in Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park,” said JJ Tighe, Director of Parks & Trails Initiative, Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation. “We thank all of the stakeholders focused on critical water infrastructure, shoreline resilience, climate change mitigation and natural aquatic habitat growth, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Governor Cuomo, NYS Department of Conservation and Environmental Facilities Corp., the Great Lakes Commission including the Environmental Protection Agency and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper and the City of Buffalo.”
