PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 26, 2020) Explosive ordinance and detonation technicians with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), separate the wires on a simulated improvised explosive device (IED) using an MK2 Talon IED robot during a training exercise aboard USS New Orleans (LPD 18). New Orleans, part of Expeditionary Strike Group Seven (ESG 7), along with the 31st MEU, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
