The house shown here in Lake Charles, Louisiana, has a blue roof put on by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after Hurricane Laura devastated the area in Calcasieu Parish. Hurricane Delta hit the area once again weeks later adding to the destruction Laura left behind. This home’s blue roof remained intact after Hurricane Delta. Over 95% of the homes that received blue roofs from the Corps remained intact after Hurricane Delta, Oct. 16, 2020. (Photo by Ferdinand Detres, Jr., USACE Omaha District Public Affairs Office)
