Soldiers from the 249th Engineer Battlaion, Fort Bragg, N.C., are supporting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers assessment of damaged homes, Oct 19. 2020, after Hurricane Laura devastated the area in Calcasieu Parish. Hurricane Delta hit the area once again weeks later adding to the destruction Laura left behind. Staff Sgt. Pho Nguyen, 249thEngineer Battalion, measures the square footage of a home through a proven process of a pace count. A Soldier establishes their unique pace count by counting the amount of paces it takes to walk 100 meters in an accurately measured course.
