US Army Reserve Soldiers conducted the Army's new combat focused M4 rifle qualification, on October 27th on a range at Ft. McCoy, Wis. The qualification rounds off the last day of a two week Small Arms Trainer Course, or SAT-C, hosted by the 103rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa. The course is designed to re-emphasize skills on the set of small arms weapons commonly fielded in Army Reserve units. The main intent is to instill weapons proficiency for NCOs that they can then take home to Soldiers in their units. SAT-C is part of a larger ongoing training initiative by the 103rd known as Cactus Gunnery. All students in the course received enhanced training on six weapons platforms, the M9 Pistol, M4/M16 Rifle, M249B Light Machine Gun, M240B Machine Gun, M2/M2A1 Heavy Barrel Machine Gun and the MK-19 Grenade Machine Gun.
