CORONADO, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2020) Under Secretary of the Navy (Acting), the Honorable Mr. Gregory J. Slavonic, observes as Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewman candidates prepare to conduct a 2-nautical mile swim in the San Diego Bay at Naval Special Warfare (NSWCEN) in Coronado, Calif., Oct. 28, 2020. NSWCEN provides initial assessment and selection and subsequent advanced training to the Sailors who make up the Navy’s SEAL and Special Boat Teams. Naval Special Warfare Command is committed to its Sailors and the deliberate assessment and development of their tactical excellence, ethics, and leadership as the nation’s premiere maritime special operations force supporting the National Defense Strategy. It is the maritime component of United States Special Operations Command, and its mission is to provide maritime special operations forces to conduct full-spectrum operations, unilaterally or with partners, to support national objectives.
