Maj. Gen. David Francis, Commanding General of the Army Aviation Center of Excellence prepares for a flight demonstration of the Degraded Visual Environment Pilotage System (DVEPS) at Fort Campbell, Ky., November 16, 2020. DVEPS is designed to enable pilots to safely maneuver their aircraft in environments where visibility is significantly degraded due to dust, fog, darkness, or other degraded environmental conditions, by providing enhanced visual display options. 160th SOAR is hopeful the technology fielded in Special Operations aircraft will one day be employed throughout the Army aviation enterprise to improve survivability and provide a better sight picture for pilots and aircrews operating in austere environments.
