CAMP PENDLETON, California – Marines from Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA) hosted a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate the Marine Corps’ 245th birthday Mon., Nov. 9, 2020. The tradition of cutting a cake symbolizes the passing of traditions and customs to the younger generation signifying the honor and respect accorded to experience and seniority. The oldest Marine present was Dr. David Rathgeber, MCTSSA’s director of operations, who retired from the Marines as a lieutenant colonel with 23 years of service. The youngest Marine present was Lance Cpl. Mekhi Brown, who is a financial management resource analyst.
