Geurts speaks with submarine trainer maintenance team members Steve Stephenson and Eric Somogyi before touring Trident Training Facility Bangor, Nov. 17. As the authority for all Navy acquisition functions, programs and weapons systems, Geurts visited strategic-deterrent units in the Pacific Northwest to see current operations, training and maintenance facilities fist-hand, and to discuss ongoing preparations and planning for the new Columbia class of ballistic-missile submarines.
