A formation of ships from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, and the Republic of Korea Navy maneuver in the Pacific Ocean during a trilateral exercise (TRILATEX). TRILATEX is intended to increase interoperability, operational proficiency and readiness between partnering nations. The ships included The guided missile destroyer USS Chafee (DDG 90), the guided missile cruiser USS Port Royal (CG 73), USCGC Galveston Island (WPB 1349), JS Moyoko (DD 175), JS Shirane (DDH 143), ROKS Yulgok Yi I (DDG 992) and ROKS Choi Young (DDH 981).(U.S. Navy photo by Chief Mass Communication Specialist Keith W.
