U.S. Marine Cpl. Scott Mackenzie, a reconnaissance Marine with Force Reconnaissance Platoon, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and native of Redwood, California, builds an improvised claymore during an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) range at the Central Training Area, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 24, 2020. Conducting EOD ranges allows Marines to train and familiarize themselves with the proper disposal of explosive ordnance. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
