NAVAL AIR FACILITY ATSUGI, Japan (Dec. 01, 2020) – Vice Adm. Bill Merz, Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, addresses the Chiefs' Mess in the base theater during a visit to Naval Air Facility Atsugi (NAF) Atsugi Dec. 1. Merz is conducting fleet circulation visits to NAF Atsugi and NAF Misawa with a focus on discussing the U.S. 7th Fleet Warfighting Concepts and engagement with tenant commands and rotational deployers. U.S. 7th Fleet conducts forward-deployed naval operations in support of U.S. national interests in the Indo-Pacific area of operations. As the U.S. Navy's largest numbered fleet, 7th Fleet interacts with 35 other maritime nations to build partnerships that foster maritime security, promote stability, and prevent conflict.
