Soldiers with the 1st Battalion, 182nd Field Artillery Regiment, Olympia Armory, Michigan Army National Guard, now with Michigan’s Task Force Spartan, work with the Forgotten Harvest of Royal Oak Michigan Community Food Bank, Nov. 25, 2020. Each day the Task Force prepares 20 pallets weighing 1200lbs each of meal boxes for the local community. In addition, during the holiday week, the team prepared 15 pallets of special Thanksgiving day meals weighing 540lbs each. The food bank warehouse delivers 138,000lbs of surplus food per day to local charities in metro Detroit. Since March, Michigan National Guard teams have supported food banks across Michigan, distributing more than 7 million pounds of food to local communities.
