U.S. Army deploys expeditionary signal assets to YS 79

U.S. Army soldiers and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Western Army members participate in bilateral training on the Transportable Tactical Command Communications system during Yama Sakura 79 at Camp Kengun, Japan Dec. 11. The Command, Control, Communications, and Computer infrastructure during the exercise is critical for success due to great distances between unit locations and also marks the first time signal expeditionary assets like these have been deployed in this capacity. Yama Sakura is the largest bilateral and joint command post exercise led by U.S. Army Pacific and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force which enables both forces to train against a realistic scenario that tests the capabilities and interoperability required to fulfill obligations under the mutual security treaty and maintain peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
