201221-N-IE405-2434 STRAIT OF HORMUZ (Dec. 21, 2020) - The guided-missile submarine USS Georgia (SSGN 729), right, transits the Strait of Hormuz with the guided-missile cruiser USS Port Royal (CG 73), the guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58), not pictured, and a MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter, attached to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 48, Dec. 21. Georgia is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three critical chokepoints to the free flow of global commerce.
