National Guard Special Forces candidates typically train four or five months drilling with a Special Forces Preparatory Detachment (SFPD) doing a lot of running, rucking, push-ups, sit-ups and land navigation as part of assessment. Special Forces training is very physically demanding as operatives may be required to reach mission objectives via long stretches of air, land or water.
