Col. Richard Goldenberg applaudes retired New York Army National Guard Captain Kenneth Bombace, a Holbrook, New York resident, after presenting him with the Combat Action Badge during a short ceremony held on Jan. 4, 2020 at New York Army National Guard headquarters in Latham, New York. Bombace was recognized for his involvement in an action which took place during a firefight in Samarra, Iraq on May 21, 2005 when he was assigned to the 642nd Military Intelligence Battalion and serving as the commander of the Police Assistance Team as part of the 42nd Infantry Division and Task Force Liberty. Through an oversight, Bombace did not recieve the award he should have. Major General Michele Natali, the Assistant Adjutant General, Army for the New York National Guard, worked to obtain Bombace's award. Natali attended the ceremony virtually and Goldenberg, the New York National Guard Public Affairs Officer, represented him. ( DMNA Photo by Eric Durr)
