A Marine with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), refuels an AH-1Z Viper attack helicopter during a Forward Arming and Refueling Point (FARP) training exercise at Landing Zone Dodo, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 5, 2021. A FARP operation allows aircraft to be refueled and re-armed at a distance closer to the area of operations than the main operating base, which decreases the turnaround time during sustained operations. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
