Command Sergeant Major Roy Marchert, senior enlisted leader of the Georgia Department of Defense holds a letter that was written to him more than 20 years ago by Megan Pruitt (seated right) when she was a student in Marchert’s class. Marchert, a long-time employee of the Gwinnett County School System relinquished responsibility of the Ga. DoD to Command Sgt. Major Matthew Marks during a ceremony at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, Ga. January 8, 2021. Pruitt, now the band director at Cass High School in Cartersville, Ga. joined the 116th Army Band to play during Marchert’s change of responsibility ceremony. Six of Pruitt’s students joined her to play with the 116th Army Band.
