A small boat deployed from the Coast Guard Cutter Alex Haley, homeported in Kodiak, Alaska, transits toward the Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star (WAGB 10), to deliver a critical part as the Polar Star departs Dutch Harbor, Alaska, Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021. The 44-year-old Polar Star, the nation’s sole heavy icebreaker, is about 30 days into a months-long patrol to project power and support national security objectives throughout Alaskan waters and into the Arctic, including along the Maritime Boundary Line between the United States and Russia.
