INDIAN OCEAN (Jan. 14, 2021) – The amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), middle, the amphibious transport dock USS San Diego (LPD 22), left, transit the Indian Ocean. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit are conducting operations off the coast of Somalia under Joint Task Force – Quartz in support of Operation Octave Quartz (OOQ).
