U.S. Army Capt. Jason Nelson is the chaplain for 1-137th Assault Helicopter Battalion, 28th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade but has previously served as an infantryman, cavalry scout and artilleryman. At 17 years old, he followed his father's footsteps and joined the military in 1998 to see if he "had what it took." After an almost 12-year break in service, he rejoined the military in 2016 as a chaplain, because he and his wife felt that it was what God led them to do. While he hates the time he has to spend away from his family, he enjoys connecting with and helping Soldiers in his battalion. (U.S. Army photo by Capt. Jason Nelson)
