FORT LEE, Va. (Jan. 28, 2021) -- Lt. Gen. Leslie C. Smith, the 66th Army Inspector General, speaks from the lectern during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Observation Jan. 21 at the Lee Theater. Smith, former commanding general, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence at Fort Leonard Wood, was the guest speaker for the annual event celebrating the legacy of the civil rights lion. His livestreamed presentation was a mix of imagery, discussion and interaction exploring King’s persona as well as his economic, political and social objectives. Smith also drew parallels between King’s sense of morality – standing up for just causes --and ethical decisions Soldiers and leaders make every day in the conduct of their duties. The event was presented by Equal Opportunity/Equal Employment Opportunity Office and hosted by the 59th Ordnance Brigade.
