Julio Castellanos, the Central America and Caribbean theater security cooperation operations chief with U.S. Marine Corps Forces, South, briefs a presentation on U.S. Southern Command’s Women, Peace, and Security Program during a virtual non-commissioned officer leadership development subject matter expert exchange at U.S. Southern Command in Miami, Florida, Jan. 27, 2021. The Women, Peace and Security program is part of a national effort to promote the meaningful contributions of women in defense and security sectors around the world. The Puerto Rican National Guard hosted the non-commissioned officer leadership development subject matter expert exchange and the engagement included the Dominican Republic armed forces, 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern), Inter-American Air Force Academy and U.S. Marine Corps Forces, South. The exchange included discussions of the enlisted force structure, leadership, roles, professional military education, promotions, evaluation processes, performance feedback, and career development for all of the forces involved.
