SAN DIEGO (Jan. 29, 2021) Chief Hospital Corpsman Tommy Turtle is pinned to the rank of chief petty officer by his family during a chief petty officer pinning ceremony on board Navy Medicine and Readiness Training Center San Diego (NMRTC) Jan. 29. DDue to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony was livestreamed via video teleconference (VTC) and Facebook Live allowing family, friends and staff to participate while adhering to social distancing guidelines set forth from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the ways of how to conduct business and NMRTC has adapted some of its techniques and practices to keep everyone safe. NMRTC’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research.
