Texas Army National Guard medic Spc. Matthew Bernal, a medic assigned to Joint Task Force Texas, surveys a growing line of vehicles outside the Cuero Park Clubhouse in Cuero, Texas, Jan. 29, 2021, during a vaccination pilot program coordinated by the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) to bring COVID-19 vaccines to rural areas throughout Texas. Texas National Guard medics, all nationally registered Emergency Medical Technicians, came together from across the state in support of this mission to help vaccinate Texans living in underserved communities, considered to be high-risk for the COVID-19 virus.
