    ARFF Burn Drills

U.S. Marine Corps aircraft rescue and firefighting specialists with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, and Marine Wing Support Squadron 271, conduct live fuel fire burn training at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, Feb. 3, 2021. The Marines use the water turrets atop P-19 fire trucks to control the flames, and when the fire is smaller, they use what are called “hand line drills” to completely extinguish the flames. Hand line drills are a method of firefighting with hand held hoses. Hand line drills help the Marines get a better understanding of the water pressure of the lines, and help the Marines learn the best techniques for fighting fires using a handheld hose.
