Patrick Appelman, former director of Fort Campbell’s Directorate of Public Works, recently works to demolish a World War II-era structure as part of an ongoing campaign to replace the installation’s aged buildings. In fiscal year 2020, cost savings from U.S. Army Garrison-Fort Campbell’s work totaled more than $5 million. Much of that amount came from DPW’s efforts to demolish World War II-era buildings that were driving up maintenance and energy expenses.
