The 5th Combat Communications Group, a tenant unit at the Robin Air Force Base, Ga., won the Robins AFB Fire Prevention Program of the Year in the medium organization category for calendar year 2020.
The team ensured the safety of nine facilities and nearly 500 Airmen over the last year. By securing these facilities they enabled the Group to support the COVID response, Flexible Comm Package fielding, Agile Combat Employment initiatives and combatant commander’s across the globe.
“The team ensured the safety of our facilities which enabled us to project Air Power across the globe!,” said Col. James Coughlin, 5th Combat Communications Group commander. “This was no small feat and we want to thank the entire team.”
The Group also won the award in calendar year 2016.
688th Cyber Warriors are located in over a dozen different geographic locations worldwide. Their mission is to engineer, build, operate, secure, defend and extend the Air Force cyberspace domain to enable and assure the Air Force core mission and the joint fight.

Brandon Witherspoon, Tech Sgt. Maurice Wilks, Tech Sgt. Stephen Lyles, Tech Sgt. Zachary Barnett, Staff Sgt. Thomas Acord, Staff Sgt. Nathanial Byers, Staff Sgt. Matthew Roquemore, Staff Sgt. Godric Ramirez, Staff Sgt. Trevor Moore, Staff Sgt. Keldrick Parks and Mr. James Robbins.
