U.S Navy Chaplain Thomas A. Bingol has been the command chaplain at MCAS Cherry Point since March 16, 2020. He has been a chaplain, however, for almost 25 years.
“I hope to bring an insight of experience. Perhaps some wisdom of having been in similar situations, having served as an enlisted sailor, junior officer, and now a senior officer. Being able to meet people wherever their path is.”
Bingol greets everyone with a smile and never seems to shy away from an opportunity to share a good story.
“I really enjoy the pastoral care component of ministry – working with individuals, walking with them and sharing different perspectives.”
Bingol says he hopes to use his experiences to also impact and inspire younger chaplains.
“It is a joy to be able to speak to people about the possibilities of what their ministry could look like in another setting – overseas, on a ship, blue side, green side - to help encourage other chaplains as they are progressing.”
