A combat aviation advisor assigned to the 6th Special Operations Squadron instructs go-bag familiarization to deployed aircraft ground response element members assigned to the 193rd Special Operations Security Forces Squadron during Emerald Warrior 21.1 at Camp McCain Training Center, Mississippi, Feb. 23, 2021. Combat aviation advisors are Air Commandos who serve in Operational Aviation Detachments and are responsible for integrating with surface special operations forces advisors to conduct special operations activities by, with and through foreign aviation forces in permissive, hostile, and denied territories to deny, degrade, or defeat a threat. Emerald Warrior is the largest joint special operations exercise where U.S. Special Operations Command forces train to respond to various threats across the spectrum of conflict.
