U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Matthew Lansdon, a bulk fuel specialist with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) prepares to demonstrate an expeditionary refueling capability with a Mark VI patrol boat during a refueling operation on the pier of U.S. Naval Base Guam, Feb. 21, 2021. Refueling in port is a proof-of-concept exercise that demonstrates the Mark VI’s ability to get fuel from a non-traditional expeditionary support platform, allowing for extended sustainment while at sea. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the Amphibious Squadron 11 in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
