U.S. Marines with Marine Rotational Force Europe 21.1 (MRF-E), Marine Forces Europe and Africa, disembark a U.S. Marine Corps assault amphibious vehicle (AAV) from a Dutch Royal Marine Landing Craft Utility (LCU) boat in Olavsvern, Norway, Feb. 24, 2021. U.S. Marines and Dutch Royal Marines participated in an integrated training event involving the transportation of AAVs aboard LCU boats. MRF-E focuses on regional engagements throughout Europe by conducting various exercises, arctic cold-weather and mountain warfare training, and military-to-military engagements, which enhance overall interoperability of the U.S. Marine Corps with allies and partners.
