Civilian contractor Bob Stitt travels in a 11-meter rigid hull inflatable boat from Afloat Forward Staging Base (Interim) Ship USS Ponce (ASFB(I) 15) to conduct tests on two M18 Mod 2 Kingfish Unmanned Underwater Vehicles. The Kingfish uses side scan sonar to search and discover objects of interest. This marks the first time these UUVs have been added to mine countermeasure operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
