10MAR21, Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael Grinston visited the U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory for an non-commissioned officer-led tour as part of his U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence-hosted visit to Fort Rucker, Ala. Army Future Command’s 2020 Best Warrior, Staff Sgt. Mayra Rodriguez, briefed USAARL’s current capabilities and efforts in bridging the gap between the science of medicine and the science of aviation. Sgt. Ryan Mackie provided an overview orientation of USAARL's various flight simulators and on-going efforts with transcranial direct stimulation, 3D audio, and virtual reality projects. Pfc. Richard Oldham spoke of USAARL’s helmet drop tower and the valuable research data it provides in head-supported mass efforts. Staff Sgt. Matthew Davenport presented an overview of USAARL’s role in testing medical devices for airworthiness and aeromedical certification with an emphasis in Project Convergence 21 articles, the MedHub and Load Stability System. Col. Mark McPherson, USAARL Commander, gave a quick overview of USAARL’s forensic investigative work being conducted on past and current aviation mishaps.
