Mary Bryant, a research hydraulic engineer with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory, overlooks the 1:2 scale model of mangrove forest like those located on the Florida coastline. Researchers at the ERDC have partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District and the U.S. Naval Academy to explore the engineering value of these forests in reducing flood and storm risk.
