After departing the active runway and retracting his aircrafts landing gear, Maj. Justin “Poker” Choate, 514th Flight Test Squadron F-16 test pilot, levels off to gain airspeed prior to performing the maximum climb to altitude during a functional check flight from Hill Air Force Base, Utah, Mar. 22, 2021. Known as an FCF or Zoom flight, these flights are a performed by 514 FLTS crews to insure that aircraft being repaired or modified by the Ogden Air Logistics Complex meet safety standards and are ready to be returned to squadrons around the world following depot maintenance.
