U.S. Air Force 2nd Lt. Brian Foxworth, a Brenham, Texas, native and logistical readiness officer with the 628th Air Base Wing stationed at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, poses during a break at the state-led, federally-supported Ford Field COVID-19 Community Vaccination Center in Detroit, March 24, 2021. Foxworth is part of a group of Airmen assigned to 1st Detachment, 64th Air Expeditionary Group that are assisting with the vaccination efforts. Foxworth’s main responsibility is vaccination support, which includes overseeing local community member’s guidance to the proper vaccination station. Foxworth said he was personally affected by COVID-19 when some of his family members contracted the virus, but thankfully, they all recovered. “It feels great to be able to assist,” said Foxworth. “When I signed up for the military, it was to serve and that’s exactly what we are doing here. I am the most excited to help this region overcome this virus.” Foxworth has never been to Detroit, and on his off time he plans to explore the local community. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing continued, flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.
