Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force JoAnne S. Bass coins Staff Sgt. Chanel Cummings, senior search and rescue controller instructor, Air Force Rescue Coordination Center, in recognition of her support in providing cell phone data to authorities lending to the save of a an Airman, Tyndall Air Force Base, March 29, 2021. Chief Bass toured the 601st Air Operations Center to learn about their vital air defense mission supporting the North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command. The 601st AOC plans, directs, and assesses air and space operations for NORAD and USNORTHCOM. Manning for the AOC primarily comes from the Florida Air National Guard’s 101st AOG.
