The Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock-landing ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) conducts an operational check of the countermeasure wash down sprinkler system. The countermeasure wash down system washes the ship's exterior in case of chemical, biological or radiological contamination. Gunston Hall, with the embarked 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group and is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
