Lt. Gen. Scott Spellmon, 55th Chief of Engineers Commanding General, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, joined the Mississippi River Commission for a tour of Levee 536 in Rock Port, Missouri. The tour highlighted the Missouri River 2019 flood repair successes and challenges in a system substantially different than the Mississippi River levee system. Maj. Gen. Diana Holland (USACE, Mississippi Valley Division), Maj. Gen. Robert Whittle (USACE, Great Lakes and Ohio River Division), Brig. Gen. D. Peter Helmlinger (USACE, Northwestern Division), Col. Mark Himes (USACE, Omaha District), and a host of other individuals from the Missouri River Commission, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Mississippi Valley Division, and Northwestern Division participated in the event. Preceding the tour was a panel discussion with key individuals involved in the levee repair effort, March 30, 2021.
