Brigade Command Sgt. Maj. Larry Farmer, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, exits a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter in Kabul, Afghanistan, Sept. 2, 2012 in preparation for the arrival of passengers. Farmer took the position of door-gunner as his last mission in theater prior to the end of his deployment in Afghanistan. Farmer and other senior leadership throughout the brigade, fulfill the duty positions of those typically filled by junior-ranking soldiers in order to give their troops time off in a high op-tempo environment.
