    Federal Vaccine Response

U.S. Army Spc. Marissa Lopez, a Hammond, Indiana, native and supply specialist with the 338th Signal Company stationed at Elwood, Indiana, poses during a break at the opening of the Community Vaccination Center in Gary, Indiana, April 6, 2021. Lopez is part of a group of U.S. Army National Guard personnel who will be supporting the vaccination efforts. Her main responsibility is providing registration support to community members at the vaccination sites, and making sure community members are accounted for to receive their vaccinations. Lopez is most happy to help out wherever she is needed, which was the reason she decided to join the Army in the first place. On her off time, Lopez plans to work on her bachelor’s degree in business. she said, “I love helping out the community. It’s my long-term mission to serve and help people.” U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing continued, flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.
