ARABIAN GULF (April 9, 2021) – Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Mechanical) 3rd Class Jason Bird, right, and Electronics Technician 2nd Class Juan Maldonado, both assigned to guided-missile destroyer USS Laboon (DDG 58), prepare to unload cargo from an Airbus SA 365 F Dauphin helicopter, attached to the French aircraft carrier FS Charles de Gaulle (R 91), during flight operations in the Arabian Gulf, April 9. Laboon is part of the Charles de Gaulle Carrier Strike Group while deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations, supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, and ensuring maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
