U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Roberto Barraza, loadmaster for the 816th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron, and U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Shane Thaxton, an evaluator loadmaster for the 816th EAS, attach a fuel hose for C-17 Globemaster III hot refueling operations during a training and certification mission at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, April 9, 2021. The 816th EAS and 379th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron Airmen performed multiple iterations of a process where the Aerial Bulk Fuel Delivery System was drained into an R-11 fuel truck, then C-17 Globemaster III engines were left running for hot refueling from the truck to the aircraft, as well as a defueling process from the plane back to the fuel truck. This operational capability enables the Air Force Air Mobility Command to support joint service partners in Agile Combat Employment. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Tech. Sgt. Brigette Waltermire)
