View of the Abraham Staats House at South Bound Brook, N.J., April 20, 2021. During the American Revolutionary War, the house served as Maj. Gen. Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben headquarters during the Middlebrook Cantonment of 1778-1779. The original two-room house, which is located on 17 Von Steuben Lane, was built in 1740 and subsequently added enlarged. The Borough of South Bound Brook bought the house in 1999 ensuring that it will remain in the public domain. The house was entered onto the National Register of Historic Places Dec. 4, 2002.
