U.S. Army Staff Sgt. John Hutchinson is the 28th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade's electromagnetic spectrum manager. He has volunteered to extend his deployment and will provide his expertise to the 40th Combat Aviation Brigade during their time in the Middle East. His duties include coordinating and de-conflicting communication frequencies between multiple coalition partners, civilian companies and U.S. military units.
He says he got his best night of sleep the day he accepted a promotion at his civilian job as a field service engineer.
Though he provides his services to the entire brigade, and will soon serve with the 40th CAB, he is currently deployed with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2-104th General Support Aviation Battalion, 28th ECAB.
