Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit prepare to launch an Amphibious Assault Vehicle from the well deck of amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) while operating in the Arabian Sea. New York is part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group with the embarked MEU. New York is currently deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
