New York, NY, April 28, 2021—Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas visits the Community Vaccination Center set up at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn. The site is capable of doing 3,000 vaccinations a day and recently passed the 170,000-vaccination mark. Site manager Josie Arcurio, FEMA Region 2 Acting Regional Administrator Tom Fargione and U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Joseph Adams, Commander 335th Expeditionary Medical Operations Squadron, led the tour of the facility. FEMA personnel, along with the Department of Defense’s Title 10 Vaccination Support Team, help local residents to get vaccinated for COVID-19. FEMA is working with state, local, tribal and territorial governments on the critical need to open vaccine centers that ensure underserved populations have access to vaccines. K.C. Wilsey/FEMA
